What do you want for Christmas?
For me, this is easy. I want us to say YES to God.
I don’t know what He is asking you to do, but I want us to say Yes. Whatever He asks, wherever He leads.
We have no past template at Journey, so we couldn’t ask, “How did we do this last year?” or “Is this the right place to hang this?” Instead we laughed and tried new things together. As we work in our new facility I’m reminded of something Jesus said in John 13:34 “A new commandment I give you…”
This was a big moment for everyone. It was time to get note pads ready. Time to write down a new command. The teachers of the law, the disciples and folks in the crowd had to be very excited about this brand new law!
That’s it? The big new command? Just love each other? This was something different, something refreshing and something fun. The promise of doing this “new thing” is found as Jesus continued to explain. “By this all people will know you are my disciples, if you love each other.”
It makes us new, different, wonderful love sets us apart.
This is also what Christmas is all about. Jesus coming to be with us to show us His love and give us this new command. So what will you do with this new command this Christmas?
Here’s my suggestion: Say YES to it!
When we say yes to this command God wonderfully transforms our lives!
